FAQ

  • I signed my child up for the next session and they progressed faster than I thought they would. Do they have to take that level again next session even though they already passed?
No, they do not have to repeat the levels they passed! We will move them and make the adjustments necessary!
  • My child passed to the next level only a few days into the session! Who is my child’s new coach?
Your child will continue to work with their current coach. Even though some of the kids in the class are still working on the skills your child just mastered, the coach will work with your child on their new skills. Our coaches are trained to teach all levels.
  • My child received these really cool snorkel goggles for their birthday. Can we use them for lessons?
For our lessons, we ask that they use goggles that do not cover up the nose. We want them to learn how to blow bubbles under the water with their nose. If their goggles cover their nose, they cannot learn this skill. Snorkel goggles are really fun to use at the lake or when they swim for fun!
  • What does a typical first day of lessons look like?
When you arrive at the pool, find a seat in the bleachers behind the rope (you do not need to check-in). We will go over the pool rules and introduce our coaches and supervisors. When your child is paired with their coach, the coaches will take them to the lane they will be in for the rest of the session. The coach will start with level 1 skills and progress until the swimmer can no longer demonstrate the skills. This will determine the level of the swimmer. The supervisors will go to each lane to watch the swimmers and talk to classes to make sure we have the appropriate starting level for each child. If a child is in the wrong class, we will move them to the correct class at that time. The coaches will continue to work with the swimmers until the end of the class time. At the end of the lesson, our lifeguard will blow the whistle and the swimmers will exit the water.
  • What should I bring to lessons?
Swimming suit (our water can be chilly so a swim shirt or bodysuit is allowed), Towels, Goggles are strongly recommended (find a pair that fit your child’s face comfortably and that are snug. Again, NO snorkels).
  • Can I register for a private lesson that includes both of my children at the same time with the same coach?
If you want to book a private lesson for multiple children with the same coach at the same time, please reach out to us (via email) prior to registration. You will still have to pay the private registration fee for each child. Private lessons sell out fast! We do not recommend this route because one-on-one time is compromised.
  • How old does my child need to be to participate?
Children 5 years and older may register for regular (group) or private lessons.Children 3 years (potty-trained) and older may register for private lessons only. So, if you have a 3-4 year old, they can only do private lessons.
  • My child is going to miss some of the days during the two week session. Can I get a discount or a refund?
No discounts or refunds will be awarded. Please plan accordingly. Of course, exceptions will be made for broken bones or extreme family emergencies, but as a general rule, we will not offer refunds. If you know you will be gone for 1/2 of the session, please consider different dates or swimming lesson options because you are taking space from other families.
  • Can I register for multiple sessions?
Of course! You can register for as many sessions as you want as long as space is available.
  • I don’t know what level to register my child for. How do I complete registration?
Please use your best judgement based on the level descriptors. Our staff will make adjustments as necessary when lessons begin to ensure your child is working on appropriate skills. Please do not sign up for a level that is far too low or advanced for your swimmer just because the time fits. This creates problems for our staff and for other swimmers - especially in the regular (group) lessons.
